There is no possible way to describe the best daughter in the world. So I won’t even try. 27 years ago today I gave birth to the sweetest daughter anyone could ever have. Now she has one of the sweetest daughters anyone could ever have (with another one on the way). Despite all my failures as a mom, she turned out great. I am so blessed by who God has given me in my life. I blink, and now she is a mommy. She is as great a mom as she was a daughter.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Kara-Kae, I LOVE YOU!
5K- Am I crazy?

I am considering running a 5K. I want to train correctly, so that I don’t get discouraged and quit. I have some feet issues that may make it difficult, but hopefully, if I get the right shoes I will be okay. Any ideas on the best shoes to run in? How about a good app for my iphone to help me train?
I hope if I post this it will make me accountable, and I will follow through with it.
Any suggestions?
Snow Days

I sure enjoyed my snow days. I think I enjoyed the snow more than some. I stayed in most of the time, and I didn’t even get cabin fever. I spent much of my days off sewing. I made me two pair of pajama pants, of which I made the pattern from another pair of pants. First time to do that, and they actually fit. I also made a baby rag quilt and started working on a t-shirt rag quilt. Very productive days and much more fun than the alternative!

Forgiveness

When reading my Bible, the Message version, I read Mark 11: 24-25. “That’s why I urge you to pray for absolutely everything, ranging from small to large. Include everything as you embrace this God-life, and you’ll get God’s everything. And when you assume the posture of prayer, remember that it’s not all asking. If you have anything against someone, forgive—only then will your heavenly Father be inclined to also wipe your slate clean of sins.”
I am having a lot of difficulty with forgiveness. If there is a person that has lied cheated, and treated your family as if they are worthless, then it is hard to forgive. I know forgiveness is expected, and should be, but it is so difficult. Do you just stop praying? Is God listening? At what point does forgiveness finally come?
P. E. T-shirt Quilt

When I taught physical education, I wore t-shirts that went along with the theme of my unit or had a P.E. message on them. I took the shirts and made a quilt. I decided when I made this quilt, I would not frame the shirts like I did with Dennis and Toby’s quilts that I made. I needed one more block, so I embroidered the years I taught P.E. 1995-2008 and TOY 1999-2000 to make my final block. This is only the quilt top. It isn’t completely finished yet.
The next t-shirt quilt I am going to make will be from library t-shirts. I am going to rag them. Not sure how it will turn out, but I will give it a try.

I had a great 56th birthday. Toby and family showed up at church and then came to lunch. Kara-Kae and family showed up for lunch. We had Rodney’s pizza, which was delicious as always. Kara-Kae made yummy chocolate chip cookies.
Everyone had to leave earlier than planned because of the weather. Before they left, I got to have a fun time playing with my favorite girls.
Then I got my very special gift. Mimi. I am sponsoring a child from Ethiopia. Her name is Mimi and her birthday is Jan. 10. I will post more about her later. Since her birthday is tomorrow – the 10th. I just want to say, “Happy Birthday, Mimi!”

I am not good with resolutions, so this year I am going to work on improving myself.
10 thinks I want to improve on…in no particular order:
spirituality – get closer to God
eat healthier – weigh less
get healthier – exercise more
down size – sell and move
generosity – give more, want less
exercise my brain – learn new things
retire – really retire and quit my job
grand children – spend more time having fun with them
laugh more – cry less
no skunk – all gray (finish letting the color grow off of my hair)

I had a student that I thought I may have taught her mom. So I was going to ask her her mom’s maiden name. Instead of using the word maiden, I asked:
“What was your mom’s name before she got married?”
Her response was:
“Actually, it was Rebecca, now it is Becky.”
Not much help, but it was funny.
